Diary Entry: 1
Oh Dear Lord. This is actually happening. I am writing a blog post. I have suddenly become illiterate and don't know what to say. Fabulous.
Hello! If you haven't already guessed from the title of this post, this is an introduction to my blog, Diary Of A Leaving Cert Student. As of 2 days ago (September 1st), I am a member of the Leaving Cert Class of 2016. In June, I, along with thousands of others up and down the country will sit my Leaving Certificate - 7 exams that dictate where I will spend the next part of my life and possibly what career path I will take in the future. This blog is intended to be a diary-esque outlet for me and my thoughts and musings that I have throughout the year, and if anyone else is reading this (which I highly doubt there is as I haven't told anyone I've started a blog), I hereby invite them to come along with me on this year- long journey, and laugh at my futile attempts to stay calm when I am drowning in a sea of assignments, personal statements and CAO deadlines. And who wouldn't want to witness that?
I've always wanted to start a blog but never knew how to go about it or what I would write about etc. Even though I am clearly none the wiser about how to set up or run a blog (before writing this I spent a good hour googling 'how to start a blog' and 'wordpress vs blogger' and 'how do you spell procrastinating') I DO know what I am going to write about. While I am interested in beauty, fashion and lifestyle, I don't think I would have the knowledge to write full blog posts that are worthwhile publishing to an audience (assuming that this post is worthwhile publishing hahahaha. ha. ha. ha.). However, I happen to have an extensive knowledge about school, exams and how to survive THE MOST STRESSFUL YEAR OF YOUR LIFE ( I have literally been back three days and I need another holiday), and this knowledge will (hopefully) only grow and expand as the year goes on, hence, the idea of Diary Of A Leaving Cert Student seemed like a good one!
Ok, so here is THE PLAN (that sounds super definite and efficient when the reality is that I could get tired of this in two days and 'Diary Of A Leaving Cert Student' will sit gathering dust forever, but let's hope it doesn't come to that). I hope to divide this blog up into two sections (possibly? maybe? ahhhhh, I don't know, I am literally making this up as I go along). The first section will be weekly or twice weekly diary entries, about how my week is going in general, anything that is making me stress in particular (which will probably be EVERYTHING fyi), anything I found interesting etc. The second segment of the blog will be featured articles (oooooh la la so fancy) on certain topics like 'CAO vs UCAS' or The Mocks' or 'The Formal/Debs.' These posts are likely to be very sporadic (let's face it, with my procrastination levels, this entire blog is likely to be one big sporadic thingamajig) so please bear with me as I am entirely new to the blogging scene and am very much learning as I go along!
And finally, just before I get started, I need to put the teeniest tiniest disclaimer out there. Please do not expect this blog to be in any way a 'how-to' guide or full of well thought out, tried and tested survival tips. Maybe if I was 10 years older and had plenty of wisdom and advice to hand out by the bucket, it would be, but unfortunately, for now, I am a clueless 17 year old that is going to try and stumble her way through this year and hopefully come out the other side with only a few minor injuries! For anyone that is reading this, I hope you enjoy coming along with me!
Ps. I do realise I haven't said my name at any juncture in this post, but I'm just not sure if I want to remain anonymous or not yet! For now, a 17 year old girl from Co.Donegal, Ireland, is all you are going to get! *mysteriously disappears in a puff of smoke*
